The gothic bathing suit is perfect for anyone looking to add a little flair to their swimwear wardrobe. It's also perfect if you're looking for something different than the typical bikini or one-piece swimsuit.
History of the Bathing Suit
The bathing suit is an item of clothing that was invented by a man named Thomas Burberry in the early 20th century. He wanted to make a garment that would be appropriate for the beach, and so he created the first swimwear.
Before this time, people had been going to the beach in their own clothes. It was not until 1907 when a company called Roxy introduced the first two-piece swimsuit that began to change how people dressed for swimming.
In 1913, another company called Jantzen introduced a new type of swimsuit with more fabric and coverage than what had been seen before. This was also when women were allowed to wear one-piece suits in public places. This led to an increase in women wearing bathing suits at beaches and pools, which caused more companies like Jantzen to introduce new designs of bathing suits and other clothing items like hats and footwear as well.
How the Bathing Suit has Changed Over the Centuries
The modern bathing suit was invented in the late 1800s. Women’s bathing suits were made of wool and they were often too heavy to swim in. The first design of the modern bathing suit was made by a man, named Charles Frederick Worth, who designed the costumes for a Parisian fashion house.
In 1907, two German brothers, Otto and Heinrich Rosenthal, opened their first shop on Coney Island Avenue in Brooklyn. Their store was called "The Diving Bell" because it had an indoor swimming pool where customers could try on swimwear before purchasing it.
