During China National Day celebrations, there are many things to see and do. There are large-scale parades showing off China's military might, as well as performances and other displays of Chinese culture. People are also encouraged to take part in activities such as sports competitions, flag-raising ceremonies, and lantern festivals.

How is China National Day Related to the Chinese New Year?
Even though China’s National Day and Chinese New Year are two separate celebrations, they are deeply connected. The Chinese New Year marks the start of the Lunar New Year and is celebrated on the same day each year - which is not always true for China's National Day. However, there are features from both holidays that reflect the importance of tradition in Chinese culture and the significance of their revered leaders.
During both holidays, people honor their heritage by taking part in patriotic festivities, performing traditional dances and expressing sentiments for their country through song.
China National Day is celebrated annually on October 1st and commemorates the founding of the People’s Republic of China in 1949 with the establishment of the Communist Party. During this holiday, people honor their leader, Mao Zedong and all that he did to create a new, independent nation.
The Chinese New Year, also known as Lunar New Year falls on different dates each year based on the lunar calendar but it also honors their leader. Traditional aspects such as gift giving, symbolic decorations and firework displays are still an important part of celebrating these two holidays. Both celebrations are important to Chinese culture and traditions - pursuing them proudly and unifying in a shared identity to further their collective journey.
